Sedona Zipper Cover Hack Tutorial!

Have you had a chance to sew Sedona yet? This bag is a fun, quick, and satisfying project!

We always love seeing how you make TSM Patterns your own! The creativity you bring is incredible, and your hacks get our wheels turning more and more!

Below our Test Team member, Maryfrances Fabbri, shares how she personalized her Sedona bag by adding a front zipper placket! She shares the steps she took and includes photos to follow along.

We are so excited to share this hack with you and can't wait to see your future versions!

Sedona Zipper Cover Hack Tutorial:

If you would like to add a placket to your Sedona Crossbody, to conceal your invisible zipper, it

is quite easy.

You will need to cut a placket piece measuring 14”x2”. Interface if using cotton or other less stable fabric. If using faux leather or vinyl you will not need to interface. See photo below.

Fold the piece, WST, to form a 14” x 1” piece. I like to add some tape here to keep it from

opening. See photos below.

You will now add this piece in Step 19 of the directions. Please see below.

STEP 19. Repeat process Steps 17 and 18 with pieces stacked in the following manner. Main

Front Upper Exterior RSU, Placket Strip (cut edge not folded edge), main front lower edge (with zipper attached) RSD, Invisible Zipper Pocket Lining Upper RSD. (Working with the non-zipper pull side). See photo below.

STEP 19a. OPTIONAL Turn piece RSO, iron or finger press, depending on your fabric, and topstitch 1/8” away from top edge of new placket. I suggest leaving the Invisible Zipper Pocket Lining Upper out of your topstitching. See photo below.

Proceed with the pattern from here.
